The WTO Twelfth Ministerial Meeting (MC12), 30 November-3 December 2021, will have before it advanced elements of a draft Investment Facilitation for Development (IFD) Agreement. Accordingly, this public webinar will first provide a briefing and assessment of the status of the IFD negotiations at the time of MC12 and tentative plans for the future. With the negotiations having reached this stage and the contours of the Agreement and the bulk of the investment facilitation measures becoming clear, it is appropriate to begin thinking about implementation. Accordingly, the webinar will discuss key issues regarding implementation, especially in terms of strengthening the development impact of the Agreement and including the importance of gap analyses and needs assessments and the work of a future WTO Investment Facilitation Committee.
The webinar will be conducted in an interactive manner and allow for questions by participants.
