General Assembly during the 27th World Investment Conference inNew Delhi sees election of leadership posts for World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies
NEW DELHI — The World Association of InvestmentPromotion Agencies (WAIPA), the leading global body representing government agencies charged with attracting inward investment, elected a new steering committee during its General Assembly meeting 12 December 2023.
Hosted since 1995, the World Investment Conference (WIC) is the flagship event of WAIPA and brings together government officials, business leaders and high-level representatives of multilateral institutions to discuss the current global challenges and opportunities posed by foreigndirect investment (FDI). The 27th iteration of the event is taking place in New Delhi 11-14 December 2023.
The General Assembly, attended by member IPAs, voted onleadership positions as well as the future status, priorities and activities of the association.
Among the results, Invest India was re-elected to the Presidency of WAIPA. Switzerland Global Enterprise andKuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority were electedjointly as vice presidents.
Regional directorships were voted as follows:
• South Asia – Bangladesh Investment Development Authority
• East Asia and SE Asia – Invest Korea
• Central America and Caribbean – PRODOMINICANA
• Sub-Saharan Africa – Ghana Investment Promotion Center
• MENA – General Authority for Investments and Free Zones(Egypt)
• Central Asia – AZPROMO (Azerbaijan)
• EU – Invest Finland
• Eastern Europe – Invest Cyprus
• Oceania – Trade and Investment Queensland
