About the Award
The World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (WAIPA) is launching a global competition to recognize and celebrate IPAs and their investor partners who have excelled in facilitating and actualizing investment projects. This initiative honours agencies and investors that significantly contribute to local development through strategic and innovative investment practices, setting benchmarks in investment facilitation that inspire global emulation.
Understanding, the pivotal role of investment promotion agencies (IPAs) in grounding and actualizing the investment projects, it is essential for IPAs to intensify their focus on investment facilitation. This not only accelerates project implementation, leading to significant time and cost efficiencies for investors, but also catalyses further investments. Given the emphasis placed on investment facilitation by global frameworks, the importance of these activities is unmistakably clear.
The competition will be held annually. A panel of judges will select the winners and winners will be announced at WAIPA’s 28th World Investment Conferences (WIC) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on November 26, 2024.
Award Categories
Winner & Runner Up awards will be given under the following categories, and a special award would also be given to LDC IPA:

Eligibility and Terms of Participation

Only WAIPA Member IPAs are eligible to participate in the “WAIPA Investment Excellence Awards” competition.

IPAs will need to fill out a separate “WAIPA Investment Excellence Awards” application forms for submission. An IPA may submit up to a maximum of four submissions. The same project may be submitted under different award categories.

Investment Time-period under different categories

‘Sustainability & Local linkages’ category – The investment facilitation process must have started after January 2020 and the investment project must have become operational by June 2024

“Excellence in Investment Facilitation” category – The facilitation process must have started after January 2020 and the groundbreaking or facilitation completion should have taken place by June 2024

“Use of ICT in Investment Facilitation” category – The facilitation process must have started after January 2020 and the groundbreaking or facilitation completion should have taken place by June 2024

IPAs may attach additional supporting documents to strengthen their submission.
How to Apply

IPAs will need to fill out a “WAIPA Investment Excellence Awards” online application form for each of their submissions. The link for the application form is provided below.

An IPA can submit up to four submissions. Submissions can be made under the different the award categories and separate forms will need to be filled for the submissions.
