26th World Investment Conference Opening Ceremony

Opening Remarks | #WIC22

Mr. Todd Greene, Chair of the Board of Directors, International Economic Developmental Council (IEDC)

“We got to think about getting more people who have been marginalised, whether these are women or people of colour, we got to look for opportunities to bring them into this. Finally, we’ve got to reimagine the nature of work itself. We got to figure out a way to make work more compelling, to consider the expectations of workers.”: Mr. Todd Greene, Chair of the Board of Directors, International Economic Developmental Council (IEDC)

Some other excerpts from the talk:

  1. We need to be working together to encourage FDI in workforce development and how can we strengthen this. We must explore new strategies around workforce development. We have got to look at re-examining our policies, to highlight the jobs. We must start encouraging investment into programmes that prove Labour-force Participation Rate (LPR).
  2. A stronger workforce will produce an even stronger and more interconnected global economy and in turn strengthen individual regions and local economies. We believe that addressing these workforce challenges is one of the best strategies to lead people out of poverty and address the inequalities that marginalised communities have been facing historically.
